Summer Opera Program

Summer Opera Program offre un periodo di avvicinamento e approfondimento alla cultura italiana, un'esperienza di studio per cantanti lirici sotto la guida di artisti di fama internazionale, insegnanti di canto, maestri ripassatori, direttori artistici, direttori d'orchestra e registi.

Lo studio verte sull’approfondimento del canto lirico e darà agli studenti gli strumenti necessari per poter migliorare la propria preparazione in previsione di una futura carriera.

PROGRAMMA DEL CORSO (SEZIONE 1 E SEZIONE 2)

° Consiste in un periodo di 14 giorni di studio intensivo

° Il programma è rivolto a cantanti, dagli studenti di livello avanzato ai professionisti

   emergenti che cercano di migliorare la propria tecnica vocale e l’interpretazione

   musicale.

° Accettiamo cantanti che abbiano compiuto il 18° anno di età , provenienti di

  tutti i paesi.

° Il programma è pensato per approfondire il repertorio operistico con particolare  

  attenzione al repertorio italiano.

° Offriamo l’opportunità di cantare concerti lirici, di musica sacra e un’opera completa

  di scene, costumi, coro e orchestra.

° Lezioni private di canto e studio dello spartito

° Lezioni quotidiane di italiano, lezioni di dizione con insegnante madrelingua.

° Lezioni di logopedia.

° Lezioni di recitazione riguardanti l’Opera che verrà rappresentata.

° Seminario di formazione su ciò che riguarda audizioni pubbliche e private.

° Un ambiente tranquillo e solidale dove ogni cantante è valorizzato e incoraggiato a

  concentrarsi  sul raggiungimento del proprio potenziale.

 

All'arrivo i cantanti riceveranno un programma dettagliato con una ripartizione giornaliera del loro coaching, delle prove, lezioni di perfezionamento e seminari, ecc. 


Tutte le lezioni si svolgeranno presso il Seminario Vescovile Giovanni, Bergamo.

Leo Nucci  Baritono

He was born in Castiglione dei Pepoli (Bologna) in 1942, but he lives in Lodi, hometown of his wife, Adriana. After winning several competitions, in 1967 he made his debut at Teatro Sperimentale (A.Belli) of Spoleto as Figaro in IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA. 

He studied with M° Mario Bigazzi, completing his studies in Bologna with M° Giuseppe Marchesi. After having his career interrupted in 1970, he was persuaded to continue by M° Ottaviano Bizzarri. 

Since its debut in 1977 with IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA, he constantly sang at Teatro Alla Scala in Milan, participating in two season's opening. 

For Teatro Alla Scala he recorded DON CARLO, two editions of AIDA, IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA, SIMON BOCCANEGRA, IL TROVATORE, OTELLO, TOSCA, GIANNI SCHICCHI, with conductors such as Claudio Abbado, Riccardo Chailly, Riccardo Muti, Lorin Maazel, Sir Georg Solti. In 2007 he performed a historic concert on the occasion of the 30-year career at Teatro Alla Scala, an event that has been released on DVD (Leo Nucci: Trent'anni Alla Scala, produced by Cmajor). 

In 1979 he made his debut at the Staatsoper in Vienna with IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA. In this theater he sang nearly 300 performances and made several recordings, receiving the honor of “Kammersänger” and “Ehrenmitglied”. 

At the Metropolitan in New York he made his debut in 1980 with UN BALLO IN MASCHERA. He participated in several new productions, recording UN BALLO IN MASCHERA, LA FORZA DEL DESTINO, L'ELISIR D'AMORE, IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA and several Gala concerts. 

His debut in London's Covent Garden was in 1978 with LUISA MILLER and since then, even with this theater he maintains a constant collaboration with performances and recordings. 

He was singing in Arena di Verona for 31 years, performing in more than 100 performances, singing the role of RIGOLETTO for nine editions and recording various DVD. 

He is probably the only baritone in history to have sung Rigoletto in all the most important theaters in the world, with a total of more than 450 official performances. 

In recent years he has taken as "house" reference Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Zurich Opera House (debut in 1982 with LUISA MILLER) and the Teatro Regio of Parma (debut in 1967) , where recently he was awarded honorary citizenship. With these three theaters still maintains a special relationship, participating in many new productions. 

He has recorded under the direction of Herbert von Karajan, Sir Georg Solti, Riccardo Muti, Claudio Abbado, Carlos Kleiber, Lorin Maazel, Riccardo Chailly, James Levine, Zubin Mehta, Carlo Maria Giulini, Giuseppe Patanè, Nello Santi, Bruno Bartoletti, Daniel Oren, collaborating with colleagues from the world of opera. He starred in two film-opera: MACBETH by Claude D'Anna presented at Cannes in 1987 and IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA. 

He has recently released a book dedicated to him: "Leo Nucci, un baritono per caso” written by Achille Mascheroni, Azzali edition of Parma.

Barbara Frittoli soprano 

Born in Milan, she graduated with the highest honour at  “Giuseppe Verdi”  Conservatory in Milan where she studied  with Giovanna Canetti. She later was the winner of several international competitions.

Among her career’s most remarkable  performances were LE NOZZE DI FIGARO (contessa d’Almaviva) in Ferrara,  OTELLO (Desdemona) at the Salzburg Festival and at Teatro Regio in Turin with Claudio Abbado, COSÌ FAN TUTTE (Fiordiligi) at the Wiener Staatsoper and at Ravenna Festival with Riccardo Muti, also with Colin Davis at Covent Garden.

She sang DON GIOVANNI at Salzburg Festival with Lorin Maazel, TURANDOT (Liù) at Opéra Bastille with Georges Prêtre and a tour with the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and Zubin Mehta. At the Metropolitan she was Desdemona in OTELLO with James Levine, a role which she has performed in Brussels (Pappano), Wien, Nice, Florence (Mehta), and in which he made his debut in Munich under the baton of Mehta.  She sang DON GIOVANNI (Donna Anna) to Glyndebourne, at Wiener Staatsoper and the Metropolitan, the role of Elettra in IDOMENEO in Dresden under the baton of Colin Davis, Vitellia in LA CLEMENZA DI TITO  and the title role in LUISA MILLER at the Royal Opera House. We also remember her return to Opéra National de Paris in  SIMON BOCCANEGRA and OTELLO.

At Teatro alla Scala, she sang Leonora in IL TROVATORE, Alice in FALSTAFF, Desdemona in OTELLO, La Contessa d’Almaviva in LE NOZZE DI FIGARO, Anaide in MOSÈ IN EGITTO and most recently  Suor Angelica in IL TRITTICO.

Her repertoire also includes IL FLAMINIO of Pergolesi, LA BOHÈME at Wiener Staatsoper and at  Metropolitan Opera, Donna Elvira in DON GIOVANNI, Sifare in MITRIDATE , RE DI PONTO in Turin and Paris with Christophe Rousset, Medora in IL CORSARO, Antonia in LES CONTES D’HOFFMANN, Alice in FALSTAFF in Rome with Daniele Gatti, in Florence with Pappano, and at Covent Garden with Haitink. She was Amelia in SIMON BOCCANEGRA, Margherite in FAUST, LUISA MILLER and Elisabetta in DON CARLO debuted at Teatro Comunale in Florence under the baton of Zubin Mehta, Liù  in TURANDOT at Gran Teatre Liceu di Barcellona.

Brilliant and intense is also her activities pertaining concerts:  she has worked with leading orchestras and famous conductors in the world.  Her vast concert repertoire includes  Verdi’s Requiem performed under the baton of Riccardo Muti, Claudio Abbado, Riccardo Chailly, Zubin Mehta, Valery Gergiev, Gianandrea Noseda along with bands like the Berlin Philharmonic, the Wiener Philharmonic, the Chicago Sinphony, the Orchestra Filarmonica della Scala, the Boston Symphony Orchestra. His repertoire also includes Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem, K.427 Mass in C minor by Mozart (London Symphony Orchestra / Colin Davis), Stabat Mater by Pergolesi, Stabat Mater by Rossini (Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra / Riccardo Chailly) Mahler’s Fourth Symphony (Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra / Bernard Haitink).

She has recently sung THAÏS in Turin, the Verdi Requiem conducted by Maestro Pappano at Covent Garden, COSÌ FAN TUTTE in Valencia and Vienna, LE NOZZE DI FIGARO in Madrid, at the Opéra National in Paris and at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, SIMON BOCCANEGRA  conducted by James Levine in Boston, New York but also in Barcelona, CARMEN at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, LUISA MILLER at the Zurich Opera, LA BOHÈME in Tokyo Yokohama on tour with the Teatro Regio in Turin. And moreover SIMON BOCCANEGRA at the Metropolitan Opera, FALSTAFF and LA BOHÈME in Zurich and finally DON GIOVANNI at the Metropolitan Opera, in Washington and at Teatro alla Scala in Milan as well as ADRIANA LECOUVREUR in Barcelona, DON CARLO in New York and at Teatro Regio in Turin, IL TABARRO in Verbier, FALSTAFF at Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires, LA BOHÈME and PAGLIACCI at Metropolitan Opera, FALSTAFF at the  Berlin Staatsoper.

Ernesto Palacio 

Artistic Director of Rossini Opera Festival and Accademia Rossiniana, Tenor

Director and artistic agent. Was one of the most important Tenore di grazia of his time. Having an agile and powerful voice, also noted for his line of singing and acting in Rossini, Donizetti, Bellini, Mozart and Cimarosa repertories.

The tenor retired from stage by the late 90s, but continues linking the opera as artistic agent for important singers like Juan Giego Flórez and Elina Garanca, Ildar Abdrazakov. 

At present he is the Rossini Opera Festival’s Sovrintendente and the Director of the Accademia Rossiniana Alberto Zedda (ROF). 

He was recognized by Peruvian Government as Regent of the Order for Distinguished Services. He contributes with prestigious theatres as the Real de Madrid and Palau de las Artes of Valencia preparing young artists. He is member of juries in different singing contests.

Furthermore, Ernesto Palacio is the artistic director and founder of the International Opera Festival Alejandro Granda the most important opera event in South America, featuring first class singers, and the most outstanding productions in the region.

Ernesto Palacio started his singing studies in Milan and debuted in 1972 playing the Lindoro role in L’Italiana in Algeri. His artistic career was developed in prestigious stages as Teatro alla Scala, Metropolitan Opera House, Covent Garden in London, Liceo in Barcelona, San Carlo in Napoles, Opera di Roma, La Fenice di Venecia, the Opernhaus in Zurich, the Monnaie, in Bruselas, among others. Also he made presentations in South-american theatres as Colуn in Buenos Aires, Municipal in Santiago de Chile, Teresa Carreсo in Caracas and Municipal at Lima, Peru, where he took part in many seasons by Fupal and Prolirica.

In addition to his work as tenor, with his dedication to musical investigation it was possible to rescue important works that remained forgotten and could be recorded in recordings.

Palacio made several recordings of which we highlight L’Italiana in Algeri, with Marilyn Horne; Maometto II, accompanied by June Anderson and Samuel Ramey, conducted by Claudio Scimone; Turco in Italia with Samuel Ramey and Montserrat Caballй conducted by Riccardo Chailly; Mosй in Egitto with June Anderson and Ruggero Raimondi; among others.

Massimiliano Di Fino pianist, organist, composer, tenor

 

Born in Bergamo, he graduated in 1994 at the Musical Institute Gaetano Donizetti  (Bergamo) in piano, organ and composition with honors. He attended courses of perfection, held by illustrious names like A. Schiff, A. Sacchetti and G. Parodi. Simultaneously he undertook at the Conservatory of Milano, studies of choral conducting, conducting and singing. He has collaborated with many instrumental and vocal formations, obtaining great success both from the public and critics. 

 

Winner of prestigious competitions, he has been invited to the most important Italian and European cities to perform important organ works by C. Franck, M. Duruflé, O. Messiaen just to name same.

The first complete organ works of C. Franck was performed in the Basilica of San Carlo in Milan at the age of 16 years, after he had won a contest held by the humanitarian society of Milan as "best student of the Conservatory of Bergamo". 

A great virtuoso, attentive and sensitive interpreter, with diverse personalities but with very precise ideas rooted in the historical and cultural European, Italian organ tradition. He has experimented with all kinds of organ music and always with great success. 

 

Over the years he has dedicated himself with particular attention to the nineteenth-century Italian organ music becoming an expert performer.

The study of singing and the vast repertoire of vocal music, allows him to interpret the     19th century Italian organ so masterfully and uniquely, making him one of the best performers in this genre. 

 

He served as Master piano accompanist, at the theatre Carlo Felice in Genova and at the Donizetti in Bergamo. Always as an accompanist, he worked with major opera singers like  Ernesto Palacio, Nicola Martinucci, Giuseppe Sabbatini, Marcelo Alvarez, Ivan Magrì, Nino Machaidze, Barbara Frittoli, Leo Nucci.

 

Is currently chorus master of the Calauce Lyric of Calolziocorte (Lc), Mafalda Favero of Calolziocorte (Lc), as well as the Lirico Simone Mayr of Bergamo and works together with the lyric choruses of Tesserete, Mendrisio and Lugano (Ch), these choirs perform operatic and sacred repertoires. 

 

As tenor he has performed extensive repertoires of sacred music and lieder. 

He is a member of vocal group "Italian Harmonists" www.italianharmonists.it for which he has arranged several pieces for vocal quintet and piano.

 

Since 2010 is a chorister, at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan and has interpreted, at Teatro alla Scala, solo roles in the following productions: Lady Macbeth of the Mcensk district of Shostakovich, A bride for the Tsar by Rimskij-Korsakov, Les Troyens by Berlioz,

Le Comte Ory of Rossini, Strauss ' Rosenkavalier, Porgy & Bess by Gershwin and Beethoven's Fidelio, Idomeneo by Mozart.

Mario Binetti Actor, Director

 

Born in Bergamo, he played his first theatrical role at the age of eight with the company  ‘Il teatro del Gioppino, Zanica, BG’ with which he still collaborates. 

He graduated from the Liceo Musicale P. S. Suardo, Bergamo, he continued his studies in theatre with Marco Rota and Luciano Mastellari graduating in Vocal Technique with a Master in Cinema, Theatre, Entertainment and in Non-verbalCommunication.

He studied acting and directing at the Paolo Grassi Civic School of Dramatic Art in Milan as a 

Voice Dubber at the Voice Art Dubbing in Rome. 

In 2004 he played ‘Kurt’ in the Musical ‘Passionately all Together’ alongside Michelle Hunziker and Luca Ward with the Compagnia della Rancia under the masterful direction of Saverio Marconi and in the 2005/2006 season he participated in the national tour.

In 2013 he founded the Cultural Association ‘TheatrEvents’ of which he is President and Artistic Director and with which he promotes numerous cultural events and shows throughout northern Italy. He is the author and assistant director with the collaboration of Fabrizio Dictamanti "Il Paese delle 3 Patate", musical comedy. 

He is the author and director of the New Year’s Television Show 2021 for the City of Bergamo in collaboration with the Ducato of Piazza Pontida where he collaborated with Giorgio Gori, Benedetta Parodi, Roby Facchinetti, Niseem Onorato, Omar Fantini, Alex Esposito and with the chorus TheatrEvents directed by Bruno Santori. 

In 2021 he was the assistant director of Nicola Berloffa for the production of Norma at the Municipal Theatre of Piacenza.

He participated as an actor in the Italian commercials of Banca Mediolanum and Q8. 

Voice dubber of Fra Tommaso in the audiobook "Il Segreto di Chopin" by Luciano Vernadi Ceriello and the author and director of ‘Questa notte è uno splendido giorno’ a musical inspired by the life of Nicholas Barré, produced by the institute S.B.G. - Italy.
